It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rhonda Smith, on April 17, 2025, at the age of 66, after a tough battle with ALS.
She is survived by her husband Wayne, daughters Elissa (Daniel) and Audrey (Walter), brothers Allan, Mitchell and David, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Born in Montreal, she grew up in Cote St. Luc. and graduated from McGill University with a degree in Psychology. Rhonda and Wayne moved to Ottawa shortly after they were married. Rhonda worked in the real estate industry for over thirty years.
A lover and student of fashion, she was the family bling queen and basked in the role.
An avid reader. No matter where she was, a book was always nearby.
Rhonda was generous to a fault and loved spoiling her children. She epitomized the expression “it is better to give than to receive” and enjoyed doling out gifts, whatever the occasion.
Her Hollywood smile will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Jewish Memorial Chapel, 1771 Cuba Avenue. Interment will follow at Jewish Memorial Gardens, 2692 Bank Street, Ottawa.
Shiva will be observed at 11 Saddlebrook Street, Monday from 7pm to 9 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm and Friday from 2pm to 4pm. Services will be held in the evenings at 7pm.
Donations in Rhonda’s memory to the ALS Society Canada would be greatly appreciated by her family.
