Judith Pearl Ghert (née Stein)

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Judi Ghert, on the morning of April 21, 2025, the 23rd day of Nisan 5785. Judi moved to Toronto from Montreal in 1970 and made her mark on the Jewish community. She found a satisfying outlet for her keen interest in history, genealogy, and archiving by volunteering for decades at the Ontario Jewish Archives and leading efforts to organize historical documents at Temple Sinai. She also created an invaluable, vast family archive that will enable her descendants to understand their roots. An avid reader, she was a juror for the Canadian Jewish Literary Awards. Judi leaves a legacy of devotion, love, and kindness. She will be greatly missed by her children, Renee and Joel, Michelle and Philippe, and Michael and Sarah, and by her grandchildren, Amitai, Hillel, Ezra, Talya, Yael, Sebastien, and Nicolas. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Frances Stein, and her brother, Robert Stein, all of Montreal.
