Josie Katz (née Ingelrelst)

Peacefully, at home, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, only a few months shy of her ninetieth birthday. Beloved wife of her high school sweetheart and husband of sixty-four years, the late Abe Katz, who predeceased her in July 2020. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Richard Katz, Robert Katz and Christina Otto, Michael Katz and Marilyn Spilberg. Proud grandmother of Marcus and Luca Katz. Jo will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Jo was a pioneer in higher education as she became one of the first women to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in 1955. She served as the Municipal Clerk for the Town of Mount Royal for over twenty years, devoting her career to improving the quality of life for the citizens of that community. Jo also served in senior leadership roles in the McGill Alumnae Network, supporting a variety of initiatives impacting the McGill community and the Faculty of Management. Throughout her life, Jo enjoyed helping young people negotiate challenging life issues. Her joy in later life came from painting and sharing a good espresso martini with family and friends.

Graveside service on Thursday, January 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beth Israel Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 5505 rang du bas Saint-François, Laval.
