Paul Bronfman has passed away, age 67 years. The Canadian film and TV industry pioneer was a leading supplier of production rental equipment, studio facilities across the country and a philanthropist who long supported the homegrown media industry, the Canadian Jewish community and the State of Israel.
Bronfman died on Wednesday night in Toronto, with his family at his side after a tremendous battle with multiple sclerosis. He was the most resilient, stubborn and dedicated man.
Bronfman was first diagnosed with MS in 1995. He persevered for the next 30 years in business and philanthropy, including running film studios and being a leading production rental equipment supplier for Hollywood studios and streamers and local producers shooting in Canada.
Paul Bronfman leaves behind his children Alexandra and Matthew (Nathan and Eve), Jonathan and Elizabeth (James, Ella and Jack), and Andrew and Talia (Jane). As well as his brothers David (Shannah, Lyla and Jonah and Hershel) and Brian and Marcia (Natasha).
The family adds a special thank you to Paul Bronfman's caregivers, Paulo, Chris, Neil, Ron, Dixie, Tenzin and Carmenza. There's also a special thank you to his doctor of over 30 years, Dr. David Tannenbaum, and Marie Austin, his Executive Assistant for over 35 years.
