Marla Kott

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and best friends, on Thursday, April 10, 2025 shortly after celebrating her seventieth birthday. Marla valued her quality of life tremendously, and her family is also at peace knowing her suffering has come to an end.

A woman of clarity, strength and caring, Marla was the heart of the community of family and friends she built. Devoted partner to Allan Mandell, with whom she shared 20+ years in Vancouver. The best and proudest mother to Alissa (and David) Polansky and Richard (and Kelsey) Piasetski. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Julian and Evie Polansky, and Cleo Piasetski, who she simply adored. Dear sister to Leslie Sahra and Meris Kott.

Marla was born in Montreal, QC to Mabel and Cecil Kott on November 21, 1954. She graduated from Westhill Hill School in 1972, and Brandeis University in 1976. After completing her BA, Marla went on to receive her Chartered Accounting degree from McGill in 1980. She was one of the first women to graduate top of the cohort there. After many successful years in accounting partnership, Marla went on to co-found Imprint Plus, where she took pride in creating jobs for Canadians and advocating for women in business. In her retirement she focused in on her family and enjoyed being there for every special moment.

Marla was truly one-of-a-kind. She will be missed by all who knew her. Marla did it her way, and we would neither expect nor want anything less.

Due to the festival of Passover, funeral service is on Tuesday, April 15th at 11 a.m. at Temple Sholom Cemetery in White Rock at 14965 28 Ave, Surrey. Post-funeral gathering at 1103-2201 Pine Street in Vancouver Tuesday from to 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Shiva will be held in Toronto at 120 Fairlawn on Monday April 21 through Wednesday April 23 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Contributions in Marla’s memory may be made to BC Cancer, a cause close to her heart.
