On Monday, January 6, 2025 at age ninety-five. Dearly beloved wife of the late Harold Bell, O.D. for sixty-two years. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Deborah Bell, Joanne Bell and David Berman, Jonathan Bell and David Odenkirchen. Loving grandmother of Natalie and Lukas, Justin and Sasha, Corey and Arielle, Jacqueline and David, Jill and Jonathan, Eric and Meagan, Jamie and Elan, and Asher. Proud great-grandmother of thirteen great-grandchildren. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Myrna and the late David Ichelson.
An accomplished educator, Ida obtained her teaching degree at Macdonald College and taught 4th and 5th grades. She was certified in special education, making a difference for many children with learning disabilities. Ida was fiercely independent, had a deep appreciation for the arts, including performing arts and museums, and was a voracious reader. She had a large community of friends including a circle of girlfriends she remained close with since her school days.
During their long marriage, Ida and Harold enjoyed travel, weekends in Vermont and soaking up the sunshine with her family in Palm Beach. She was stylish and elegant, always beautifully dressed. After retirement she was an active volunteer and leader in her Hadassah WIZO chapter and played bridge regularly.
Most importantly, Ida was a loving wife and mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, whose influence and care was felt and will be remembered by all those around her.
