Melvin (Mel) Manis

On Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of one hundred and one. Beloved husband of the late Rose Landau for sixty years. Devoted father of Edward, Murray and Maxine, and Warren. Proud Zaidie of Ashley, Adam and Natalia; Erica, and Jay; and great-grandfather of Philip, Noah, and Zack. Dear brother-in-law of Jessie and Stanley Goldstein. Predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Ben and Julie Manis, Manuel and Kay Manis, Al and Tillie Manis, Ruth and Max Lerman, and Moses Manis. Mel will be dearly missed by his nephew, Eli (Buddy), who took exceptional care of him over the years; by Cathie, who had a special bond with him; and by his family, friends, and all those who knew and loved him. Special thanks to Mel’s caregiver, Rachel, for her devotion, and to Dr. Mark Karanofsky and the nurses, and staff at the Donald Berman Jewish Eldercare Centre for their kindness and compassion.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, February 3 at 12:00 noon. Burial at the Congregation Beth Ora cemetery section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O.
