Dear Noah, Susan and family, We are so deeply saddened to hear of Leila’s passing. All the beautiful linens we have used and that have decorated our homes over the past fifty plus years were created by her and Mary. She used to tell us that the problem with their products was that they never wore out. Some problem! We remember Leila every time we enter our bedrooms; would that she, too, had never “worn out”. She was a beautiful, wonderful, talented woman, whom we will dearly miss. May memories of all your fun times with her bring you a measure of comfort at this time.

Corinne Hart - 29 days ago

I am so so sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of Leila from all my years growing up on Montreal. Leila was a part of my conception when I think of my extended family. My mother talks about growing up with her often and we frequently look at pictures where she has a central place. When I am in Montreal I still sleep with the comforter from B. Baker that they made for me when I was 6 (!). I am sending much love and strength. May her memory be a blessing.

It's with a sad heart and tears in my eyes that I write these words. I came into Leila's life in September, 1972. I had just graduated college and moved to Montreal from New York (no I wasn't a draft dodger). My brother Donny was seeing Susan at the time (he was still in school in New York). Susan invited me over to Friday night dinner at Leila's and my bond with Leila was formed. I don't think I missed a Friday night dinner for the 5+ years I lived in Montreal ( I probably would have starved without those Friday night dinners; Leila always made enough to feed an army). When Susan married my brother in 1973, I became an "official" part of the family. Leila and my mother became the best of friends and we had the most fun times when our families got together (Leila and my mother shared a birthday, July 2). Great memories of the big family gatherings for the Jewish holidays at Susan's grandparents home. I'll never forget the time at the country house when my parents were in town and Noah decided to have a "smoke" and wanted to share it with everyone. I don't recall if my parents partook, but it sure was awkward for me when I did. Remember this was back in the stone ages, the 1970s. Oh well, it's all legal now. I'm filled with nothing but great memories of my years in Montreal and Leila is a big part of those memories. She gave me the family life I was missing living away from home. She was very special to me and for that I will be forever grateful. My condolences to her entire family...Susan, Lewis, Blair, Noah and Sydney and all their families. Rest in Peace Leila. You will be missed!

Dear Susan, Jerry, Lewis, Blair & Entire family: My deepest condolences to all of you on the sad loss of your beloved Leila. I remember, with fondness, spending so much time in her welcoming home during our schooldays. Afterwards, in Snowden, she would let us play with all the feathers in the basement of B.Baker & Sons. There was always a hot chocolate waiting for us too after sliding on a piece of cardboard in the Snowden park snow hill. May fond memories of your happy times together throughout the years , in time, help ease your sorrow now. G-d give all of health & strength. Sincerely, Arlene Granich

Leila and I were in the same class for 4 yeats at.BBHS.She was as delightful as a teenager as she was in later years. Our paths did not cross for many yrars until I required bedding etc and then for our 75th birthdays - we "girls from school" began going out for dinner periodically. I always made it a point to manoeuver myself to sit beside Leila. There are no words to ease your pain but I hope you can find some comfort that others remember Leila so fondly. Elca (Pencer)
