It is with great sadness that the family of Viktor Eichler announces his passing on February 7, 2025 in his eighty-third year. Viktor is survived by his caring wife, Eva, his children Ronald (Elyssa), Natalie (Ian), grandchildren Joshua, Matthew and Danielle, and siblings Noemi (Tibor), George (Agnes), and Gabriel (Tatiana).

Born in hiding during the Holocaust and raised in Bratislava in the Slovak Republic, Viktor was a top national sprinter on the Czechoslovak national track and field team and he studied and completed a Masters in mechanical engineering. He came to Canada in 1968 where he met his wife, Eva.

Viktor lived in Ottawa since 1979 where he was a respected engineer and worked until the age of seventy-nine. He was also an active member of the local Jewish community. In more recent years, the highlight of his life was being an integral part of his grandchildren’s lives, taking them to and from school and activities, and happily sharing their stories and achievements with everyone around him.
