Robert Applebaum (Bob Roberts)

It is with many tears and overwhelming sadness that Freda Wielgus announces the peaceful passing of her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Applebaum on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

He was born and raised in Montreal where he attended Baron Bing High School, Sir George Williams University and Le Conservatoire de Musique de Québec.

Bobby was a classically trained musician. His professional career as a trumpet player began in Montreal with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. From there, he went on to play the Seville Theatre, Chez Parée, El Morocco, and many more, which in the 50’s attracted the biggest names in live show business. He was lucky to be a part of it. Montreal then was noted for its night life both in English and French.

Bob’s later years were spent traveling and spending winters in Florida. Freda would like to thank the staff of the Hope Pavillion at the Donald Berman Jewish Eldercare Centre and to Gail, Erica and Noel for the wonderful care and compassion they showed Bob in his final years. Graveside service on Monday, February 3 at 12:00 noon at Congregation Shaar Hashomayim Cemetery, 1250 ch. de la Forêt, Outremont.
