1922 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nathan Stein in his one hundred and third year on Monday, October 21, 2024. Beloved and devoted husband to his sweetheart the late Freda z”l for seventy-five years. Cherished and loving father and father-in-law of Irwin and Barbara Stein, Peggy and Simon Zrihen, Howard and Sandra Stein. Adoring Zaida of Melissa (Phil), Jonathan (Kari); Jillian, Bradley (Ariana), and Kailey; Jessica (Michael), and Tori. Proud ‘Big-Zaida’ of Zachary, Charlotte, Andie, Dale, Cooper, Addison and Scarlett. Predeceased by his siblings, Oscar Stein, David Stein, and Miriam Struzer (the late Phil). Son of the late Joseph and the late Tillie Stein. Nathan will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and all who knew and loved him.

Heartfelt appreciation to Nathan’s caregivers, Liway and Lily, for their care and devotion and to the dedicated team of CLSC René-Cassin – Dr. Geneviève Brooks Legault, Joanne, Esther and our dear Ooteem – who went above and beyond to care for Nathan. Sincere gratitude to the staff of the K Pavilion, and 10th and 8th floor team at the Jewish General Hospital. Special thanks to our dear friend, Dr. Thomas Kohn, for his compassion and support over the years.

Nathan was a humble man of integrity and kindness, finding his greatest joy in the love he shared with his darling wife and treasured family. The last four years of his life were particularly challenging, yet he showed remarkable strength until the end, longing to reunite with his beloved Freda. Their love was truly eternal.
