Peacefully, in his eighty ninth year, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 2, 2024. Beloved husband of Diane Louis for sixty years. Loving and devoted father and father-in-law of Caroline, David and Laurence, and Robyn. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin, Gabriel, William, Nathaniel and Ashley. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Marilyn and Sanford Herman, Helen and Barry Fain, the late Harold Cohen, and brother-in-law of Allan Louis. Morrie will be fondly remembered by his family, and by his many dear friends, especially David Feldstein, Norman Tasgal, Bernie Shuster and Rick Renaud. At a very young age, Morrie learned the values of charity, love and compassion. His parents taught him that sharing with those who have less is a privilege. These were lessons well learned. Morrie involved himself in community work as a committed volunteer for over 50 years. He embraced these values through concrete actions.

In 1968 Morrie founded Annabelle Cosmetics which he ran for over 32 years and built into a Canadian champion which continues to hold its status today.

Morrie was a founding member of Auberge Shalom Pour Femmes, where he remained active for over twenty years. He was a Past President of Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICRF), and a director of Jewish Employment Montreal (JEM) for handicapped children. He was very active in Hebrew Free Loan where he served as President and Chairman.

Morrie was involved with all aspects of the Old Brewery Mission in Montreal for over 30 years. He was the Vice-Chair Emeritus of the OBM which was one of his greatest passions. In recognition of his lifelong commitment to philanthropy and community service, Morrie was honoured in 2005 by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at a ceremony called the “Unsung Heroes of Compassion.”
