(née Weintraub)

Holocaust Survivor

Peacefully in her sleep, on Monday, February 17, 2025. Born ninety-three years ago in Bucharest, Romania. In her lifetime, Lolita was a Holocaust Survivor. Despite constant fear and danger, Lolita survived to meet and fall in love with her husband of fifty-three years, the late Leon "Micu" Hasid. Lolita will sadly be missed by her children, Nina Mocle (Virgil); Zev Hasid (Miriam); Ron Hasid (Lina Harun); niece Debbie Leibovitch (Michael), nephew Michael Beer (Eileen); nephew Arie Wechsler (Janet Burghardt); grand-niece Alana Wechsler Zilman (Aaron); and cherished cousins Rhoda Nasano and Val Nasano. She will be adored forever by her grandchildren: Jessica Mocle; Joshua Mocle (Samantha); Vanessa Hasid (Tom Davy); Derek Hasid (Leah); and Dylan Hasid. Most amazing of all, Lolita was blessed with five great-grandchildren, who in turn dearly loved their Granny-Granny: Theodore and Josefina Levine; Oliver and Nora Mocle; and baby Leon Hasid. Predeceased by her beloved sisters and brother-in-laws Clair and Joseph Beer, Adelina and Benony Wechsler, and Polly and Mendel Rosenberg.

After three years of living in various displaced persons camps throughout Europe, Lolita and Micu found themselves as part of the original waves of Halutzim who helped build the nascent country of Eretz Yisrael. After eleven years, Lolita and Micu imigrated to Canada and started their lives over yet again, along with family and good friends. At the age of forty, Lolita proudly went back to school, completing a rigorous course in business management. She was a stellar employee at the downtown Hudson Baie for 25 years. In her retirement, she started attending the YMYWHA four days a week for aqua-aerobics, keeping her body as healthy as her mind.
