We sadly announce the passing of Lillian Shoub on July 15, 2024. Beloved wife of sixty-five years to her soul mate, the late Hyman Shoub. Cherished mother of the late Shelly and the late Alan Shoub. Loving grandmother of Carly Frank. Daughter of the late Anne and Joel Bernstein. Sister of the late Sidney and late Leonard. Daughter-in-law of the late Abe and Lottie Shoub. Sister-in-law of Bernie and Cyrele, Louis and Goldie, and Shirley. Special aunt to her nephews and nieces. Cherished friend to Giddie and the late Ruby Cobrin, and Arlene Posel.

Lillian grew up in a home that modeled the belief that “people need people”, which profoundly influenced her life. Her passion involved her in many community projects, including Auberge Shalom, The Cummings Centre, and nonprofits for those affected by lupus, AIDS, and autism. For fourteen years at CEGEP Marie Victorin as an educator and administrator, she was a beacon of compassion and wisdom to her students.

Despite a lifelong battle with lupus, Lillian believed life was a gift. She channeled her challenges into mastering diverse skills such as art, writing, cooking, and knitting, all while fulfilling her dreams of traveling the world.

Lillian’s legacy is woven with her deep affection for her family, dedication to education, and passion for volunteerism. Her influence shaped countless lives, inspiring others to embrace empathy and interconnectedness. Lillian’s community initiatives and work aimed to support and uplift the vulnerable. Today, we honor her incredible journey, achievements, and the enduring legacy of her belief in the profound impact of genuine human connection. Her mantra, “people need people” lives on in the hearts of all who were touched by her.

She is grateful for the overwhelming support from her loving friends, nephews Jeff and Ted, Dr. Ludman, CLSC René-Cassin, the Côte-St-Luc library, and her caregivers, especially Isabelle, for her devotion and care. A graveside funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Beit Abraham Family Estates, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O.
