Dear Vicki, Linda, and Sara Hillel and I were deeply saddened to learn that Perry is no longer with us. Our friendship goes back to camp Modin in the 1940’s, and memories of those growing up years remain warm. He was a most unusual man, and your pride in him will bring some comfort at this painful time.

Dear Sarah, Vicky and Linda: I have wonderful memories of your dad leading family seder meals, spending weekends with us in Ste. Agathe, welcoming us warmly at family gatherings at your parents’ home, and attending New Year’s parties at our house. Your dad always had interesting stories to tell and facts to share. Beyond his brilliance, I will always remember his curiosity and love for family. Even though he is no longer with us, the twinkle in his eye will live on in my mind’s eye always. I hope that love and support from family and friends will provide you with strength through this difficult time.

To Sarah, Vicki and Linda. I am heartbroken by the loss of Perry. Your father represented the ultimate “mensch”. He was a man who loved his family and community, and exemplified the most noble qualities anyone can have: honesty, integrity, honour, service, generosity and loyalty. On a personal note, he was one of the few positive father figures in my life and that was more valuable to me than you can imagine. I’m eternally grateful that he was an integral part of my life, and I pray that your memories of him will sustain you both now, as you mourn his loss, and in the years ahead. Know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and that Perry’s beautiful and blessed soul will forever have a place in my heart. Baruch Dayan ha’emet. Ariel

To Perry and Joy’s family, I am sending tender caring thoughts to you on the passing of your beloved Perry. I am especially remembering Perry and Joy at Passover Seders and Break-Fasts together with Sarah, Vicki and Linda; Sorel and Ralph, and other family members. Perry, always the ‘wise one,’ his quiet voice and sparkling eyes, his wealth of knowledge on every subject, his smile. And in later years remembering the same smiling soft-spoken Perry when he and Joy would come to Cummings Centre, always with more stories of world events and how to make Beef Wellington. In his passing, I wish you, his dear family and friends, the peace that comes from treasuring the blessing of his life, well lived and well loved. May he rest in sweet eternal peace. My arms around you.

Sarah, Linda and Vicki, I am by far the youngest of the Ballon cousins. I still vividly remember the Passover seders of my youth. Your father would lead those seders and seemed like a giant to me. But he always made the occasions interesting, and the time would fly by. As I became a teen your dad would also come up to Ste. Agathe for the weekend to cross country ski with my dad and myself. He so enjoyed it! Perry will always live in my mind and my heart. My sincerest condolences.

Arthur Roskies - 18 days ago

Dear Vicki, Linda and Sarah, It is with a heavy heart that I come to try to console you on the loss of your dear Dad. Perry was one of my dearest friends with a close relatioinship going back over 80 years. I was the best man at his wedding to Joy, z"l, and his campaign manager when he ran to be President of Hillel at McGill. My mind is full of so many memories of things we did together: we both graduated in first place from Shaar Hasomayim Hebrew and Sunday school, we double-dated both before and after he married Joy, we skied and partied together and we were fraternity brothers, etc. Perry had the most brilliant mind of anyone I ever met in my entire life: he was genuinely interested in learning about EVEYTHING that came his way. He could talk to you very intelligently about any subject, often as if he were an expert in it. He was always a pleasure and fun to be with. I missed him during the last years of his illness and I shall forever miss him. May the knowledge that you father was a GREAT man and an outstanding human being bring all three of you some consolation on your loss. Arthur

Dear Vicki, Linda, Sarah and family, my deepest condolences to you on the passing of your father and my cousin Perry. He was always a link to the world of our grandparents. I know that he was close to grandpa Louis and grandma Jennie and had stories to tell of those days long ago. He was a true Renaissance man. He was a wealth of knowledge on so many topics. But more than that he loved family both immediate and extended. We were blessed to have so many cousins. He rose to the top of his profession and excelled at all he put his mind to. He and Joy were a wonderful warm couple. May all those memories comfort you. Dorothy

Vicki, Linda and Sarah, Perry was an exceptional person who will be sadly missed. He was a walking encyclopedia with a great wit and a gentle soul who could not hurt a fly. He is one of those special people that doesn't come along very often. His legacy of wisdom and kindness will live on through the many lives he touched.
