Rubin Gilsig

(Ruby, Robert)

Peacefully, at the age of ninety-seven on Friday, May 5, 2023. Beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle. Son of the late Solomon David Gilsig and Mary (Dworkin), brother of Toby (Clare), and of the late Nathan and William; father of Gary (Judie), Janice, Audrey and Allan, children of his first marriage to the late Goldie (Wainberg). Predeceased by his wife Melinda (Ages), who he cared for in her long illness with love and compassion, and predeceased by their children, Cara and Joshua. Grandfather of William and Shane, great-grandfather, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Ruby was a great conversationalist who loved to talk about anything and everything — current affairs, travel, books, opera, sports. He was well-respected in the textile industry and was consulted for his expertise well into his retirement. We would like to thank the staff of the Waldorf Residence for the kindness and care they gave him, as well as the King David staff for the two happy years he spent there. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean-Talon St. W., on Wednesday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Shaar Sholom Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Laval. Shiva at the Waldorf Residence, 7400, ch de la Côte-Saint-Luc, Côte Saint-Luc, Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
