Growing up, Morton was “Uncle Mornie” to my brothers and myself. We used to excitedly run to the door whenever he showed up to visit—my mother, Ann Bodanis Steinberg, is his younger sister and only sibling. Over the past couple of decades, I spoke to Morton regularly over the phone. He was a good friend and confidant. He will be sorely missed. May his memory be for a blessing.

My sincere and profound condolences to the family of Cousin Morton Bodanis. I am a distant relative, also in Montreal. Morton's mother Dinah Bodanis (nee Serlin) was a sister to my father's maternal zayde Moshe Serlin. So Morton was my paternal Baba Sara (nee Serlin) Schwartz's first cousin, or, my third cousin-twice-removed. I had the opportunity to meet Morton at an event at Shul. We then met up for coffee, and discussion at his residence. He was a warm and engaging host and graciously shared with me his family history-knowledge, and photos. He was very proud of all of his children and grandchildren. The picture chosen for his obituary captures him well. I am saddened to learn of his passing. May his memory be for a blessing.
