Uncle Solly was truly one of a kind & such a role model! Ronnie & Alana's eulogies truly captured his spirit & zest for life. I always admired the way he faced his challenges with grit, positivity & a joie de vivre. He did not let his deafness define or limit him – in business, athletics or social interactions. I marvelled at how he was so interested in other people's lives. Family was so important to him. After I moved to Toronto, we looked forward to seeing each other & catching up. I fondly remember when he & Auntie Leiba stayed with us at our cottage where they played tennis together & where he swam & waterskied. They shared many wonderful years together & were so proud of their children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Uncle Solly is the last of the Levine siblings. We will always remember him with much love & respect. Elaine, Marty, Robbie & Alexandra, and David

Dear Barbara, We are so sorry to read of your Dad’s passing. What a special man! I loved seeing him almost every day while visiting my Mom at the Waldorf. Thinking of you and your children and sending much sympathy, Phyllis and Harold

Dear Barbara, Carl, Ronnie, Lynn, Scotty, Alana and the entire family, there are so many words that we want to express at this difficult time. Truly, we have never known a man to have lived to 105 years.. What a a special individual. Life’s adversities, he was the most exemplary role model for the world. A true loving husband to his beloved Leiba. She was his other half in their hearts and ears. Together they had two incredible children with such devotion. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren were their jewels. He recently had the pleasure of welcoming Carl as his son-in law and Connor proposing to his awesome Alana. To have known him was to both love and admire him. May his wonderful memories sustain you all at this difficult time.

Shelley & Howard Diamond - 12 days ago

Dear Ronnie, Barbara and families. Shelley and I were so saddened to hear the news. Up until covid began we would go to the Waldorf, and Shelley would visit a friend of her late mother's and I would visit MR. LEVINE. I would walk into his apartment and he would look up and immediately say "Oh, Howard". Then, as he welcomed me in, the albums would come out to show me his pride and joy, HIS FAMILY. Then he would update me on how everyone was doing. I had the best time being with him for short visits. I will always remember him for how he excelled in life, his mind, his mobility, and how he overcame without exception, the deafness. If you didn't already know he was deaf, you would have a hard time realizing it. At the age of about 85 while visiting us in the country, he jumped out of our boat and swam halfway across the lake. He just was an amazing, wonderful human being to look up to, and even though I knew him since I was 8 or 9, it was only many years later that I got to really know and admire him. He was 10 feet tall. We have all lost a true TZADIK.

Marlene Eisner - 12 days ago

To Saul Levine's family. Please except my sincerest condolences on the passing of your dad. Sol was an amazing man. We met some 20 years ago when he came into my office when I worked as the publicist at the Snowdon Y. He knew I was a writer/journalist and he asked me to help him write his life story. He was 85 at the time and worked out regularly at the Y. How could I say no? Sol had known and worked with my dad, Morrie Eisner, as a customer peddler during the 1950s at Canadian Outfitting, so there was a bit of a connection there. Plus, he was persistent. I spent hours typing up Sol's auto-biography, and visited him and Leiba many times in their home in Cote. St. Luc. His was a great story of how his positive attitude and determination allowed him to go after what he wanted in life. He told me that he wanted to be a role model to hearing impaired kids, so they would not become discouraged and know they could succeed in life. I lost touch with Sol and Leiba, so I am happy to know that he lived well over 100 years. May the memories that you have help you through this sad time.
