It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Schwartz, a beloved husband, father, and Zaidy.
Born in Montreal, Peter was a proud alumnus of Concordia University (Sir George Williams), and McGill University, where he earned his MBA. Peter and his wife Anna were active members of the Shaare Zedek Synagogue, Friends of the Jewish Public Library, Governors of the Cummings Centre, and the Cote St. Luc Men’s Club.
Peter was also renowned as one of Canada’s leading bridge experts. He became the youngest Life Master in Canada in 1958, served as a bridge columnist for the Montreal Gazette, and co-founded the Montreal School of Bridge.
As an esteemed professional in the field of Transportation Marketing, Peter served as Assistant Vice President of Marketing at CN. He later dedicated his career to consulting both domestically and internationally.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Anna Schwartz, their two children Ronna Schwartz (Richard Shandelman) and Shari Schwartz-Maltz (Murray Maltz), and four grandchildren Jory Goldsmith, Selina Goldsmith, Allie Maltz and Ryan Maltz. He leaves behind a legacy of passion for learning, teaching, and a deep love for family and community.
The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the caring staff of the palliative care unit of the Jewish General Hospital. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to that unit (514 340-8251).
