February 1926 – April 1925

Peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, having spent her last day enveloped in the love and support of family and friends, and tended to by the supportive staff of Westmount One. Loving wife of the late Raymond Halpern for seventy-two years. Together they had three children: Joyce Halpern (Bob Kanygin) and Michael Halpern (partner, Carol Corbeil; daughters Galit and Diana). She was predeceased by her youngest child, Kenneth. Her granddaughter, Erin Kanygin, was a never ending source of love and joy. The second youngest of Rose and Frank Kucharskys’ six children, Nancy is predeceased by her three brothers, Moe (Elsie), Norman (Frances) and Hyman (Mary), and her two sisters, Florence (Desider Klein) and Betty (Tony). The family is very grateful for the hard work and kindness shown by Nancy’s caregiver, Carol Baptiste, and her daughter Roseky; she considered them friends.

Nancy led an interesting and challenging life as a wife and mother. She was an active volunteer, (helping to fund a co-operative pre-school, fundraising for the March of Dimes, editing her B'nai Brith newsletter); an executive secretary at the National Film Board; and partner in the works of Foyer d’Artisanat, the family craft supply business. With Foyer she had the opportunity to travel through Canada and the United States, Europe, Haiti, Puerto Rico and China, visiting not only the most intriguing tourist attractions but also the factories and homes of colleagues and workers.
