With profound sadness, I announce the peaceful passing of my dearest mom, on Monday, February 3, surrounded by love at the remarkable age of 104 with an approaching birthday on March 2. Dear daughter of the late Helen and the late Adam Malkus. Soulmate and loving partner of her late husband, Louis Leffell. Adoring mother of Suzanne and Edmond Elbaz, who was like a son to her. Affectionate and cherished Grandma of Andrew and Jonathan, and their wives Rebecca Price and Mandy Silverman. Treasured and endearing Granny Fanny of Ayelet, Kelly, and Refaeli Elbaz; Theodore, and Abigail Elbaz. Best friend of her late brother, Frank Malkus, with whom she shared a heartwarming relationship. Warm-hearted and inspirational aunt and cousin to many here and in Paris. Fanny will be affectionately and inspirationally remembered by her family, friends, neighbours, and by Rebecca’s children, Yis, Tiffy, and Elisha Price. Many thanks to Armand and Rita for their unwavering years of support and devotion. Much gratitude to the staff at CLSC Renee Cassin, especially to Susan Lehay who went beyond with her friendship and professionalism. Thank you to Fanny’s caregivers for their respect, care, and dedication. A heartfelt thank you to Bluma, an angel, for her endless support, devotion, and empathy.

A testament to my mom’s life was her joie de vivre, her optimism, and resilience. She found goodness with everyone she encountered, and they were lucky enough to be considered her friend. Fanny was an accomplished piano player, succeeded in many competitions and took enormous pleasure in attending concerts, operas, and theater. She took pride in serving on many musical committees. Fanny anticipated summer musical holidays in Tangelwood with her dear departed friend, Nora.

Fanny was always impeccably dressed with a taste of class and sophistication. She was always eager to attend a Shabbat dinner, a restaurant outing, or a festive event, always being the last to leave. Fanny was always with a smile, appreciating only the goodness of others. She lived her life with wisdom, curiosity, and enjoyment.
As my mom, she listened to all my dilemmas and expectations, and guided me with her words of wisdom - sometimes gently, but sometimes feisty.
