David and Steven, your lives will be very different without your Mum. She was a real force, dynamic, talented, beautiful and full of energy. I have always been impressed that she was still skiing in her 80’s! I didn’t know her well but whenever I met her she was always so warm and friendly as if we had known each other for a while. Your whole family will miss her enormously but there are endless memories to sustain you.

Dear family, I was not able to be at the funeral and so watched it thanks to Zoom. It was wonderful seeing how much her family loved her. She meant a lot to me. In the eulogy her brisket was mentioned but her Halishkes were exceptional and if any of you do not have her recipe I do and I will be happy to send it to you. Stephen and David, our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom. The first word that comes to my mind when I think of Auntie Rebecca is "vivacious". She definitely lived life to the fullest. I have an image in my mind of her sailing on Lake Ontario with Nils, and then relaxing in their wonderful Harbour Square apartment overlooking the lake. I can also hear her in rehearsals with the B'nai B'rith Women's Laurentian Choir, where she would "tut-tut" if a particular passage wasn't quite up to her high standards. And then the performance itself would be flawless. Finally, I think of her as always having a song in her heart, and hearing her humming it out loud. Her musicality was a great source of energy for her - and she had the good fortune of having two parents and two brothers who nourished that musical expression of her life. May her memory be a blessing.

Rebecca Stotland's name was legendary on our home when we were kids. Her Laurentian Choir brought happiness, pride, purpose, if not more music into the homes of the families of its members.... I remember how our mom, Irene would prepare for rehearsals and concerts, and the enjoyment that performing and traveling with all the 'Girls' shared as a result. Sorry for your loss.

My late mother, Rosie Mindel, was a member of the Laurentian Choir and traveled with Rebecca and the others to Israel. It was one of the highlights of Rosie‘s life. Our Mom was very fond of Rebecca. For many years Rosie would dutifully go to practices of the Laurentian choir and of course, perform with them. Rebecca‘s name was heard often in our house. I have such fond memories of Rebecca, as my mother Frances was part of the Laurentian Choir for years. Got to perform many times with the Choir when I was a kid, then worked with her in productions with Beth Ora; I definitely owe my love of musical theatre to her. Rebecca was real dynamo with a huge musical talent. Just seeing all the condolence notes from children of former Choir members is a testament to the impact she had on so many! Dear Steve and David, and families It is very hard to write this condolence. You had a very special mother that my husband David and I had the privilege of knowing and being her friends. She was a remarkable person. We loved her. We are so sorry for your loss. I met Rebecca when she persuaded me to join the Laurentian Choir and we became fast friends. We spent many hours in her garden with the late Zoe and my son Robert, also at her country house. I went to Israel with Rebecca as a soloist with the Laurentian choir. We represented Canada in the Zimriya together with Les Chanteurs de Quebec, and 4 singing members of Caughnawaga (Kahnawake). and 4 Roman Catholic Priests. Wilfred Pelletier and Rose Bampton also accompanied us. We even sang in the Mann Auditorium; it was 4 fantastic weeks. Rebecca was always upbeat and smiling. We have missed her since she moved to Toronto, and we only spoke occasionally in the last few years. I can only imagine how many wonderful memories you all have, and I hope they will be a comfort to you. My thoughts are with you. Evelyn
