Ruth Perlin

(née Freedman)

Peacefully, at home, on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the age of ninety-seven. Devoted wife and true love of the late Arthur Perlin. Darling mom of Anna (Patrick), Louise (Jan), Deborah (Robert), Elizabeth (Douglas), and David (Mary). Adored grandma of Daniel, Jonathan, Ben, Chris (Jenn), Molly, Adam and Theo. Nurse, knitter, pie-maker, a power-walker long before the term existed, Ruth was also champion tennis player in her youth in Ottawa, and continued playing tennis, swimming, and cross-country skiing with Arthur well into her later years. She loved to entertain and kick up her heels, loved “camping out” in Big Harbour Island, Cape Breton, loved concert- and opera-going, and travelling the world – always with Arthur. She was the charming, engaging, classy centre of her family’s world, and a “lucky lady”, as she often reminded herself and others. Her impish sense of humour and ability to draw out others and make them laugh will be greatly missed. Heartfelt gratitude to her loving caregivers, Barb and Eliza. The family would also like to thank Sandra, 2nd floor staff and all the others at Place Kensington who helped make Ruth’s last years truly happy.
