December 29, 1937 - January 21st, 2023

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of the most humble, caring and loving man. Comforted to the end at his bedside by his extensive caring family, January 21st, 2023 marked the end of his days to walk amongst us.

Born in Smith Falls to loving parents the late John and the late Christine, Jack lived a life of youthful exuberance, antics, and adventure with siblings that have all predeceased him; Dolly (Vernon), Jim (Pat) and Julie (Jack). Originally married to Barb (née Brophy) and blessed to have had two children together, Debi (Derrick) and Tim (Marise). Grateful to have found love again and in the 30th year of marriage with Polly (née Baker). This union came with additional fortunes as Jack had the honour to become the stepfather to Lenora (Evan), Mark (Leigh) and Andrew (Mike). “Papa” or “Poppa Jack” to Kelly, Maggie, Abbi, Tyler, Noah, Arielle and Ben. There was nothing that made him happier than being encircled by the love of family. Loved by numerous nieces and nephews with a sincere gratitude to Patti Moran for all her continuous support to Jack and Polly.

Special thanks to Dr. David Aziz of the Ottawa Civic Hospital and his entire team that took such great care to comfort Jack in his final days. He was incredibly fortunate to have this team (with honorable mention to Malik) for treating him like their only patient in the face of their work that is overwhelming and never ending.

To honour him appropriately, a Funeral Service for Jack will be held in the Chapel at Jewish Memorial Gardens – Osgoode (6549 Herberts Corners Road) on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 2:00pm. We invite any family or friends to join us to celebrate the life of this man who touched each of our lives in such a unique way.
