Tommy was one of the legends when I was first being introduced to the world of photography a few decades ago. First time I saw him was at some large dinner event. Back in those days there was often a long chunk of downtime while everyone ate. There he was sitting in a distant corner all by himself reading a hardcover book. That alone impressed me and would be my first clue that even though he may have been mainly known as a photographer, albeit one of the best ones, he was really a renaissance man with a wide range of interests. You could talk to him about anything and he would offer to help you out with anything. Many respected him as a photographer but I thought of him more as a true mensch. My condolences to all of his loved ones.
