I am devastated having just found out about Arthur's passing and have been looking through the comments people have left about him. All of them are so true and accurate. I met Arthur over 40 years ago, and whether I did not speak to him for 3 days or 3 years, we always picked up as if we had been together the day before. He was the most genuine, caring, loyal, optimistic, kind, generous, friendly, warm person I have ever met and will probably will ever meet. When he spoke to you he made you feel like you were the most important person in the world, and it was real; everything about this wonderful man was real. When I heard he was sick, I did not imagine it was so bad. He actually made it sound that it would be O.K. But that was Arthur, always smiling and always believing that everything would be fine. It is not fine; his family is devastated and those of us whose lives he touched are crushed at the loss of such a great person. Rest in peace my dear dear friend and until we meet again...Baruch Dayan HaEmet

MY most sincere condolences to a beloved husband, father, brother, and FRIEND. Vanessa, Liam and little Benjamin…so sorry for this tragic loss. Taken Way too soon. In life, we should never have regrets, and unfortunately in the passing of such a loving spirit in Arthur, I now regret, that I didn’t relish every second spent with him. He stopped and smelt the roses. His greatest joy was helping and raising others. So generous in his time, so motivated for the cause…how can anyone measure up to such kindness? In life we too often celebrate the successes as measured by the material accomplishments. Arthur, was in a class of himself. He was beyond compare, when it came to compassion and support of others and there causes. Such remarkable uninhibited enthusiasm. An enthusiasm, that a child would have in a playground exhibited by an adult in a hectic world. Through a mutual friend in Alan, I was able to connect with these two wonderful men in Arthur and Michael. Such big hearts…so caring…so selfless. I send a "brief" note, to let you know, that Arthur is someone I will think of often and never forget. He is someone, I wish I could only come close too, in terms of what a kind human spirit should be. Almost childlike innocence, and purity in his connection with others. Passion is Arthur. Heart, generosity, kindness. Arthur was the wind that blew the sail, the wing on the bird, a man, who humbly worked hard to make a difference, and who’s greatest joy, was to see others succeed. If the measure of a person is kindness, then Arthur was a winner. A winner, we should all hope to aspire to be. A kind, loving passionate person. I am so grateful to have known him …I only wish more time was still to come….

You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people or a special person you can’t forget. Those are your friends. Arthur was one of those unforgettable people who warmed up the room when he walked in. I knew it the minute I met him when he sailed into Donut King on Upper Lachine Road. I was at Marianopolis at the time but our common friends used to cram into one booth to share a carafe of bad coffee and 1 muffin. Jacki Raboy Thaw and Sheilagh Carroll Mans thank you for the introduction. He was the first to hug and show how much he cared. He always referred to his close female friends as "Sweetheart" which is something that will stay with me forever and I will treasure. I was lucky to have him in my corner all these decades even though I moved to Toronto ......something he never let me forget. Yet, when I came home to visit, he always found time for us to connect, reminisce, and say how much we cared. I will be forever grateful he took my phone call from Paris last week so I could tell him one last time how much I adored him. He said he knew who his friends were and that meant the world to me. Arthur was chronically late but not because he did not value other people's time. However, there was always something he needed to do for a friend, client, or even a stranger that would delay his arrival. It was hard to stay mad when you saw those twinkling eyes and big wide smile eventually show up. The world tilted on its axis when he lost a brave fight against cancer on Tuesday and our lives are worse for that. "True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost." The loss for everyone - especially Vanessa (his soul mate and love of his life), Liam, and Benjamin - is immeasurable. The idea of the universe without our "Arfur" has still not sunk in. There are certain people you look forward to growing old with and it saddens me our time as friends were cruelly cut short. He had so much to live for and give. Rest assured, you will always be in our thoughts and a large part of the stories we recount of our youth. RIP "Sweetheart".

We have been very lucky to be friends with Arthur for over 45 years. His generosity, kindness and friendship will be dearly missed. Rest In Peace my friend..

Melissa Phillips - 19 days ago

I believe that one of the concepts owned by Arthur was “adored”. He genuinely adored helping people. No one was a stranger or someone he couldn’t or wouldn’t extend a helping hand and heart to in some capacity. And they ended by adoring him back. When you fell into Arthur’s orbit of friendship, he never ceased to make you feel special and adored in his world of kindness. And we ended by adoring him back. His long-time group of very close friends were especially wrapped by his atmosphere of steadfast attention and perpetual partnership in life. And they have lovingly adored him back, up to and into the time of his sweet transition. Arthur embraced his parents and siblings in a lifetime of respect, love, and a simple constant presence within his heart and mind. And they lovingly adored him back. With all his essence, Arthur adored his Vanessa and all his children. He could not express enough in words what they meant to him but to see his face or hear the timbre of his voice when he spoke of the life that they shared was to experience true and pure adoration. And they so very much adored him back. Good bye sweet friend. Your tireless example of love for another is what I will always aspire for.

Il va toujours me manquer. On t’offre nos sympathies les plus sincères. Que son esprit continue à vivre dans l’âme de son fils Benjamin et dans les pensés et cœur de Liam. Bises et câlins. -Jacki & Michael

I've never met anyone who packed as much positive energy into his life. Arthur was all about listening, reaching out, helping, and connecting. He did this on a personal level, which was a gift to all who knew him, but he also changed people's lives in amazingly concrete ways. If you were lucky enough to be in his orbit, you found yourself connected to business leads & opportunities. You were given constructive advice and helpful tips. Whatever you did, you became more successful because Arthur was in your corner. I spoke to him two weeks ago. He sounded weak and was having trouble breathing. Why did he call? Because he had a business referral for me. Unbelievable. Rest easy, my friend. You enriched so many lives and brought so many people together. I remain forever grateful.
