I am lost for words. BDH extending heartfelt condolences to the family. I met David in 2014 at the JGH, I needed to figure out where I was and he was the volunteer who pointed me in the right direction. He was a humble giver proud to help in discreet ways and very proud of his bridge tournaments, diverse community service. During the pandemic I interviewed him on coping during the pandemic and since then he always sent me birthday messages. Here is an excerpt from my interview of him: “The background of my makeup is that I am involved very heavily in the Jewish community, but quietly. I had a friend working for Merryl Lynch, he had no family, his parents were gone, he was estranged from his sister, brother, and nieces. For a year I said kaddish for him. And, at the same time, I sort of included all of the people who didn't have people say Kaddish for them. Did you know that my grandfather was the founding president of the Beth Zion Synagogue? Yup, my Zadie [grandfather] was the founding president and charter of the Beth Zion. My other Zadie was the first chazan [cantor] at the Adath Israel when they were on Vanhorne/ Ducharme and McEachran, a week before your parents were born.“ - David Rubenstein
