I spent my adolescence across the street from the Sacks', much of it in their basement with Joel, making a racket (but thinking we were making "music"). The Pirkei Avot exalts the person who is both slow to anger, and quick to forgive. Given the noise Joel and I made, and that we were never forbidden to do so, I can only assume the Pirkei Avot was referring to Joel's mother. She was always kind and never harsh with us. May her memory be for a blessing.

Dear Kevin, Pat and Big Joel, Sending my deepest condolences on the loss of your mum. She was the Great Aunt to beat all Great Aunts--warm, funny, loving, and always with a twinkle in her eye. I will hold my many memories of her close, especially a memorable week with her and Nana in Florida where we told family stories, and laughed, and danced as we listened to Nana's Perez Prado recordings on tape in Century Village. Tapes (!) made with love by Uncle Alfie, another great one. These memories of my great aunts and uncles together are so dear to me. And Tante Faigie's smile and laugh are central to them all. May you be comforted by the many memories you have of this amazing lady.
