To the Glouberman family, I was so very fortunate to have worked with Dina at JPPS for many years. I took advantage of free time by going to the library to spend time with her. Her intelligence, wit, and sassy attitude always made my day brighter. She will be missed. Sorry for your great loss.

Dear Nachum There are no words that come to me when Myna told me of Dena’s passing. . I have two loving memories of all of you. One was serving as a chaperone to yours and Myna and Peter’s overnight ski trip to Jay Peak (I believe my parents order my attendance as terms of reference for your trip). The second was being introduced to the wonderful world of Lhasa Apsos

I first met Dena at a wedding in Massachusetts. She was wearing a beautiful, colorful Sari. Dena was always very warm and accepting of me, and I’m grateful for that honor. I even recall skiing at Tremblant with Dena and Norman and we accidentally’lost’ her. She was ok, but we were worried. Thank you for your warmth and kindness. My love to you and the family, Dena

Dear Nachum, Mara, Tamar, Bert and Kathy, We are heart-broken to hear of Dena's passing. It is a devastating loss for all of you. My memories flash back to our wonderful times in St. Donat (for us at Gaury's Meadow). Dena's charm, gentle nature and friendly outreach, and Nahum's quiet, giving and wise personality were appreciated by all. Mara and Tamar, I have not seen either of you in many years. However, in my mind's eye I picture you, our children and the many other children roaming freely between the four meadows. We move now to a place of great sorrow. However, I hope that the wonderful memories of your family time together will sustain you at this time. Vicki and Stan

Charlotte Trepman Yudin and Eliezer Trepman - 29 days ago

Dear Nachum, Linda, Burt, and the entire Glouberman and Covit mishpochess, It is a painful shock to learn that Dena is gone. We share in your sorrow and send heartfelt condolences. After the war, our parents, Paul and Babey Trepman, were among the survivor immigrants who had no local family in Montreal. Therefore, the campers, counselors, waiters, staff, administrators, and families with whom we summered each year at Unzer Camp-Kindervelt (later Camp Dan) were our de facto family – reliable, consistent, and unforgettable. Nachum and Dena were inspiring and pivotal members of this camp mishpoche. As camp director, Paul (Mr. T) greatly appreciated Nachum's exemplary and dependable leadership as head counselor. Dena was famous at camp because of her grace, kindness, and supportive character and her hairy black-and-white shih tzu that followed her everywhere. We remember our sadness when Nachum and Dena moved away to Winnipeg and, later, when the camp closed permanently after the 1969 season. The decades since have flown by, as Babey (Mrs. T) used to say, like a cat's leap (azoy vi a katsn shprung). However, our memories of Dena and Nachum will remain as a shining bright star from those special days. We send our love to you, your families, and the entire camp mishpoche. We should see each other again only on happy occasions (nor oyf simches), but there always will be a void without Dena's presence. You all should be spared of any further sorrows (ir zoln nisht visn mer foon keyn tsar). With much sadness, Charlotte and Elly

Dear Nachum and family: What an impact the Dena and Nachum love story had on young Kindervelt campers like me. I was maybe 9 years old, yet I remember both of you as boyfriend and girlfriend so clearly. How lucky I was 50 years later to meet up with you two once again - through Jerry -and witness the growth of your magical love that began in a tiny camp on the highway and developed into a wonderful partnership full of humour, passion and joy. May your memories of Dena warm your souls; she was indeed a special wife, mother and woman. Please accept our sincere condolences, Faye Swift and Michael Brennan

Dear Nachem, Mara and Tamar, We are very saddened at the loss of Dena. Terrible diseases have no regard for a wonderful wife and mother. I met Dena at summer camp where she fell in love with my cousin Nachem. She introduced me to the Art Studio on Park Avenue. Not long after I was a bridesmaid at their magical wedding. The whole family shared a strong love for their cottage life and the outdoor activities. Dena was a creative person who cooked and knitted with such ease. Allan, too has always admired her character and personality. May the special memories you have of Dena forever be a blessing for all of you. With much love and our condolences, Naomi and Allan

Dena was the librarian at JPPS when my children were students at the school. She was always approachable, friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. May her family know no more sorrow.

Over all the many years, I have often thought about Dena, especially when driving past her house in CSL where I drove and picked up my mother before and after Dena's lessons. May your happy memories help console you at this very difficult time and may Dena rest in peace. BDE
