Dearest Donna, Murray and family, I was so saddened and surprised to hear that Freda passed away even at the age of 96. She was a very special woman; a strong woman who survived many events in her life. And she was my best friend‘s mother. My deepest sympathies and condolences to the Grossners and Claviers. May her memory always be for a blessing. I know it will be for me.

Charles / Chuck Grossner - 26 days ago

I knew Freda for 46 years and my wife Gloria Grossner knew Freda for a longer time as Gloria's late mom - Gabrielle Mendelsohn (Gaby) - and Freda were very good friends. In fact, it was through Freda and Gaby and my dear late mother Bessie Grossner (Betty) that Gloria and I - both living in Toronto at the time - and unknown to each other were introduced. We have been married since April 1976 and we must thank these three matchmakers for their effort and success. Gloria and I had the benefit of being with Freda on many occasions - simchas , family events, visits to Toronto or to Montreal, holidays and more. To say Freda was a magnificent woman is a huge understatement. She was interesting, highly intelligent, knowledgeable, up-to-date, affectionate, friendly, loving and caring. She truly wanted the best for everyone. She was a true advocate of fairness and equality for all. Listening to Donna today, only added to our admiration for Freda. She was a wonderful human being; she would clearly be in the top 1% on the "goodness scale" if there were such a measure. Those who know me, know I have a keen sense of humor - sometimes really funny, sometimes silly, sometimes stupid. and sometimes edging toward idiotic. Freda laughed at everything I said, silly or otherwise and I loved her dearly for her kindness or for just appreciating my wit (sometimes and retrospectively, it might have been just kindness). This was truly a multifaceted woman who was with it enough to appreciate an off color joke or something truly clever. Freda's sharp mind and beautiful demeanor made her a very special person to us and she will be sadly missed. Freda, you were someone we will always revere. Much love, Chuck, Gloria, and our sons- Shawn and Jonathan.

Dear Donna and family, on behalf of The TR team, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your beloved mom. I got to know your mom and you, during the FaceTime calls while she was on the 6th fl. Your mom had a love for books, family photos in which she proudly described everyone. In the heat of the pandemic, she made a point of doing her daily exercise . Going into her room was very enlightening, she was not short of conversational topics. When she was transferred to 5th fl. My colleague (Kim) who’s on vacation now, had warm memories also to relate. May your memories of your mom sustain you during these difficult times. Warm thoughts, Lucy
