Dear Ellie, Our mothers both left the Waldorf a year ago last July. They first met in the early ‘40s in Cornwall and their paths continued to cross over the decades. Mom was happy to reunite with Tillie at the Waldorf. I appreciated Tillie’s warm greetings, beautiful smile and fabulous hair. May her memory always be for blessing. Sincere condolences, Bonnie Kaplan

Dear Ellie - I'm sending you my deepest sympathy on the death of your mom,Tillie. Barry was my good friend when we were perhaps 5 yrs. old, living next door to each other on Dufferin Rd. Your family had a rare commodity then, a tv. Your sweet mom was kind enough to let us gather to watch Howdy Doody many days just before dinner. What a delightful long-ago memory. I send you whatever energy you need now, to grieve your loss. Carolyn (Ferstman) Condé

Bubby, I will always remember you and the special love we shared. You were the only Bubby I ever knew, and I love you dearly. I am sorry that I wasn't there for you, didn't visit much and failed to call you as often as I should have. I still loved you from afar, and will always. I wish I could go back in time and right all the wrongs, but I can't :( I hope you forgive me and that you know I love you. Rest in peace. Your granddaughter, Elyssa ♥️

Linda Mann Gewurz - 19 days ago

To my dear Ellie, How do I find the words to comfort you, the words to give you strength. I have known your mom Tillie for over 64 years.....for over most of my life. I remember when we were young playing in your bedroom or you family room and reading classic comic books, I remember when we were busy starting to socialize with boys from different high schools. I remember going to your house and your mom told me that Barry would help me with the clarinet and she gave me his clarinet as he did not want it anymore. I remember always bumping into your mom at TMR shopping center and later at Hillesdale and Eldercare.. But mostly I reconnected with her when she was at the Waldorf and sat with my mother-n-law for dinner. She always saw my children and she adored seeing their little babies grow into adorable little girls. Her eyes always lit up when we all came to visit and she often sat and joined in our visits. Ellie I have so many memories but mostly I witnessed the beautiful relationship that you both shared and the love you have for each other. Ellie I know how you are feeling and I know how difficult the past year had been with covid making everything complicated. Last summer you were here and you wanted so badly to come again but covid made it so difficult. Thankfully FaceTime made you stay connected and I know you did the best that was possible. Tillie was such an amazing woman, so warm and so interested in what was happening in our lives. I know she was very happy that we had reconnected after so many years and was happy how we stayed in touch. Ellie the days ahead will be difficult but you have so many years of beautiful memories to cherish. Your mom used to tell me how she loved going to Florida’s and being with you and Skippy and how good you both were to her. Those memories are her legacy, time will help to ease the wounds and you will hold her in your heart forever. Lauren, Jennifer and Jamie send you their sympathies, they all used to also sit and talk to your mom on their visits to the Waldorf. She was always with a smile on her face.. Sending hugs and know you are in our thoughts.

Denise and Sheldon Popliger - 20 days ago

Dear Family , Tillie’s passing marks the end of another person from my parent’s era. Al was , even, an usher at their wedding. My 1st recollection was almost 70 years ago when a group of Popliger friends all rented in the same subdivision in Cumberland Head (Plattsburgh) and the camaraderie was further reinforced. Tillie was always immaculate in her appearance . I don’t think I ever saw her with even one hair out of place. The mahj game with Celia, Bluma, and my mother will now resume in heaven. Our sincerest condolences.BDE
